Questions by topic

Deployment

Where does SecureLink run?

On infrastructure you control. The control plane runs on a Linux server you manage and can be deployed as a zip package, with Docker or as a Hyper-V lab. VPN traffic terminates on SecureLink’s Linux VPN server appliance, which you also run.

What’s the difference between standalone and multi-tenant?

Standalone is one control plane for one organization. Multi-tenant lets a single control plane serve several tenants, for example separate organizations or business units, each kept apart.

Do we need to rely on a hosted service to stay connected?

No. SecureLink is self-hosted: the control plane and the VPN server appliance are yours to run, so the systems that decide who can connect sit on your servers.

Supported systems

Which operating systems are supported?

The control plane and the VPN server appliance run on Linux. For endpoints, SecureLink provides Windows client and Windows server installers. If you need something else, ask us before you plan around it.

What is WireGuard?

WireGuard is a modern, open-source VPN protocol known for its small codebase and modern cryptography. SecureLink uses it for the encrypted tunnels between your devices and your VPN servers.

What do the Windows client and server agents do?

The client agent goes on the Windows computers your people use, so they can connect securely. The server agent brings Windows servers into SecureLink, so they can be managed and reached the same way.

Management

What can administrators manage?

Devices, VPN servers, groups, routes, sessions, and device enrollment and heartbeat, all from the SecureLink admin console.

How does a new device get connected?

Install the agent, and the device enrolls with your control plane. It receives its configuration and then sends a regular heartbeat, so you can see it’s healthy.
